Andreas Davison: President
Hey everyone, my name is Andreas Davison (he/him) and I am super excited to be the president of UMHiSA this upcoming academic year. I am going into my last year of the honour’s history program, and my favourite historical topic is the cultural history of the post-Cold War period. Some of my favourite courses have been modern history 1980-present and the year 1968. Looking forward to seeing you all at our events!!!

Emma Fitzpatrick: Vice-President
Hello everyone, my name is Emma Fitzpatrick! (she/her) I will be the UMHiSA Vice President for the 2025/2026 school year! I am currently a fourth-year history honours student. Currently, I really enjoy Canadian history. One of my favourite courses I took so far at UofM was the History of Social Movements in Canada (or HIST 2288) I am looking forward to a fun-filled year for the history department and UMHiSA.

Bryanna Soke-Bjornson: Event Chair
Hi, I’m Bryanna (she/her), a fifth-year History student at the University of Manitoba. This year, I’m serving as the Event Planner for UMHiSA. My primary interest lies in Classical Antiquity, particularly the Roman Republic and Empire, though I also have an appreciation for Canadian Indigenous history.
The courses that have been my favourite’s throughout my time at the University of Manitoba, are History of the Roman Republic with Dr. Lea Stirling and Critical Indigenous History with Dr. David Parent.

Daniel Scarlett: Treasurer
Hello my name is Daniel and I am in my fifth year pursuing an honours degree in history here at the University of Manitoba as well as a minor degree in chemistry. My pronouns are He/Him, and I will be the treasurer for UMHiSA this year. My favourite areas of study are on early modern and modern history with specific interests on the United States, the Napoleonic era, British history and world history. As a whole I tend to focus on military history but I also enjoy learning about social and political histories as well. My favourite history course I have taken was professor Churchill’s United States from WW2 to the War on Terror class.

Elizabeth Gillich: Secretary
Hi everyone! My name is Elizabeth Gillich (she/her) and I am in my 5th and final year of the Honours History program. I’m very happy to be the Secretary for UMHiSA this year. My preferred area of study for history is the Medieval period and the history of books! My favourite courses that I’ve taken are The Shaping of Modern Ireland, 1500-Present and The Medieval World (highly recommend both!). I can’t wait to connect with everyone and learn about your favourite parts of history too!

Erin Matti: History Major and Honours Representative
Hello! I’m Erin Matti (She/Her) and I am a 4th year Honours History student with a minor in Art History. Once I finish my undergraduate degree, I plan to eventually pursue a master’s degree in Archival Studies. I enjoy studying US history along with Indigenous history! My favorite course I have taken during my time at Uni is HIST 3870. I’m excited to take on the role of History Major and Honours Representative for the upcoming school year. I look forward to engaging with the University of Manitoba’s history community!
